First released in 2017, Urban Mutation is our Texas Hill Country × NYC handshake. It’s a mixed-culture farmhouse ale, brightened and reshaped around a vivid lift of New Zealand hop varieties and the wild sweetness of 200 lbs. of Texas wildflower honey. Brewed in collaboration with our friends at Other Half Brewing in Brooklyn, NY. @otherhalfnyc

Fermented in stainless, blended with oak-aged tart farmhouse ale, and refermented on Texas honey, Urban Mutation marries glow and grit — the snap of bright Motueka and the stonefruit of Rakau, with a living farmhouse core. We finished with a fresh dry hop of Motueka & Rakau and a final dusting of Motueka hop kief before bottling. The result is a bottle-conditioned, 9% amalgamation of what we love most right now: mixed culture, NZ hop expression, and local ingredients working in tandem to mutate something familiar into something a little wilder.

Flavor profile: aromas of wildflower honey, lemon-lime leaf (Motueka), and stone fruit (Rakau) over a gentle oak-touched base. The palate opens bright and lightly tart, moves through honeyed grain and herbal hop-tea, with flashes of citrus peel and apricot/pear. Dry, lively finish; the 9% abv drinks gracefully and nuanced.
